    Actually "Buddenbrooks" is overrated. Try "Der Zauberberg"! It's as good as "Faust" or "Gravity's Rainbow" ... ;) I really like it that you're pushing Jan Brandt's novel. Actually it was your review that finally made me read it in less than six days. A friend from Florida to whom I passed on the review is reading it too now. And isn't that a strange place to enjoy "Gegen die Welt"?

    But Buddenbrooks really is funny! Unlike Der Zauberberg which is fantastic in a very not funny sort of way.
