Two opportunities for translators young and any age:
First of all the American Gutekunst Translation Prize for US-resident translators from German, aged under 35 and as yet unpublished. You have to translate a fifteen-page text that they provide and then they choose the winner, who gets $2,500. Deadline is 13 March.
And then this July there's the Translate in the City summer course in London, working on fiction and non-fiction with experienced tutors, plus networking and industry events. Looks very good for anyone interested in translation out of Polish, Portuguese, Chinese, Russian, Japanese, Spanish, French, Italian or German!
This is definitely an opportunity for translators to wish to test their abilities and skills in translating. Getting the award would definitely give the winner a badge that will increase his or credibility as a translator. Good luck to those who will try their skills for the award.
