Ah poop, Woods is retiring after Zettels Traum? There is still untranslated Schmidt out there! I can certainly understand why he'd want to end there (I can't even imagine what he's done with it), but it's still pretty sad to hear all the same.

One of the nice things about this blog is the feeling that all you translators out there really root for each other and look out for each other. Or is this a naïve fantasy?

Crumpet: No, it's not a naive fantasy. Obviously there are exceptions, but I've never experienced anything but support from my fellow translators. We tend to be undervalued by others (reviewers in particular...), but we're really there for each other on the professional and personal level.

But I've just got back from a weekend with 200-ish translators, so I'm all loved-up anyway.
