Culled from Other Blogs

My illustrious colleague Isabel Bogdan on watching Die Vorleser being recorded. She doesn't mention whether she was sporting her handsome love german books badge, so I suspect not.*

Another illustrious colleague, Susan Bernofsky, on translating Walser and others.

A blog dedicated to the upcoming publication The Wall in My Head - one of the more sensible literary reactions to twenty years since the fall of the Iron Curtain.

My wise and wonderful co-editor Heather Reyes on wrapping up City-Lit Berlin.

Lewd Rude and Nude: on translating private parts. A workshop.

*She was!

Looking forward to seeing how much your co-editing has made a difference to the city-lit series Katy. The press release for 'Berlin' (as you've no doubt seen) certainly sings your praises.

Ahem, yes, I noticed. In fact perhaps I should be paying them for the publicity rather than the other way around.

I don't think you can directly compare any of the series, as the books are so very shaped by the cities they're about. But it was my job to choose and translate a number of never-before translated pieces on Berlin, from tourist guide to memoir to gorgeous fiction.

I hope I can find the time and energy to post some brief reviews of the stuff that made it - and some of the stuff that sadly didn't, for want of space.

And speaking of time and energy, I'm truly impressed by your website, Rob. Chapeau, as the Germans say...
